 Nice for demos, not so good as a pointer

The "cool" factor of having a blue-violet laser pointer is significantly reduced by the fact that it is simply very difficult to see this color on most surfaces. However, I have found this device useful for demonstrating (1) fluorescence and (2) the wavelength dependence of a diffraction pattern (compared to red).
