Product was as specified in the description. Although if it's important dia is 5.1mm.

5 star rating  just what I needed
Jack from Alexandria VA
The rod was excellent in every way. Dimensions were on spec and were uniform along the length. The iron worked perfectly in a coil as a demonstration of solenoid action

As advertised! Fast shipping!

5 star rating  Great Purchase!
Megan from Wilmington, NC
My son needed these rods for a science fair project. They are great! You may need to cut them to get them into anything smaller than a large Mason jar.

This item arrived in a timely manner, and was well-packaged. It came with a cute little table of the elements which I foolishly damaged by opening the product with scissors, however.

5 star rating  Not Bad, Good Magnetic Permeability for the Price
Alexander Ogle from U.S.A., OR, McMinnville
This works great for making an electromagnet. I was able to get a field of 10.8 mT at one end of a solenoid running just 367 mA using this as a core. Compare that to the field of 0.12 mT (running 314 mA) I got without the core being present (the solenoid had 255 turns for 22.9cm of length). I called XUMP to see if they knew the relative magnetic permeability for these cores, but they said this listing gave everything they knew, so I ordered 6 of them and decided to measure the relative permeability myself. I measured the relative magnetic permeability to be 86.00 +/- 3.61 You can see my data at the link below, which lists the equipment I used as well. For my purposes, I’ll be needing a relative magnetic permeability of something closer to 1000, but these worked nicely to play around with. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByEzSICKIOPkYkJ4SVFJTzg1b1U/view?usp=sharing Questions about the experimental methods can be addressed to aogle@linfield.edu

5 star rating  Good product
Hilary from Reno, NV
Bought several of these to make strong electromagnets. This is perfect for that. They are about 8" long. It's difficult to find pure iron these days, and this was a good price for my application.

5 star rating  Perfect Raw Material
Kevin Morrow from United States,Kansas,Columbus
Perfect raw iron rod for electromagnetic applications!
