The origin of tektites remains a mystery. The general consensus is they formed as a result of meteorites impacting with the earth's surface. Ages range from 800,000 to 35 million years old! Tektites are typically black or darkly colored and have rounded shapes, generally pitted on the outside and glassy on the inside.

Great for science projects or classroom collection.

Each piece is irregularly shaped and is between 0.1 and 0.5 inch in size.

Recommended for ages 7 and older.
