I purchased these for my husband, who is a high school chemistry teacher. Used them in lab to teach electro magnetic radiation. The beads worked very well he said. Yellow seamed to take a bit longer to change with regular sun light, which wasnt a bad thing. He said they were a very good product. Would buy again!

The best arts and crafts project is the one that works with the sun! Kids are amazed by how magical these beads seem when they instantly change color outdoors. Each bead has photochromic chemicals in the plastic which change color when exposed to electromagnetic radiation from the sun. This teaches kids why they need to wear protective sunscreen and sunglasses when they go outside. Make a bracelet as a fashionable reminder to apply sunscreen, melt them to make artful and scientific school projects, or weave like colors in an anklet to create a hidden message which reveals itself in the sun! Each box comes with 250 beads that change into a variety of bright colors in then sun, including purple, yellow, violet and blue.
