A solar balloon is a balloon that is filled with air and gains buoyancy because the air inside the balloon has been heated by radiation from the sun. The black balloon material absorbs the heat of the sun’s rays, causing the air inside the balloon to expand and reduce in density compared to the air outside of the balloon, giving it buoyancy. This balloon functions just like a hot air balloon, with the sun acting as the heat source. The UFO Solar Balloon makes an excellent gift, and is highly recommended for the classroom setting.

Only problem is that it ties at one end of the balloon so that when the sun heats the air inside and lift begins it will rise up at one end making it look like a giant letter I unless you tie it at both ends then connect the two ends to make it rise vertically not horizontally but otherwise great idea only problem is that with the heat inside the balloon swelling it up it will pop after the first flight. This thing really works!

Ok, so this is a giant tube made of garbage bag material. You fill it with air and tie the ends. Put it out in the sun and it fully inflates and starts rising up. Ours went up almost 30 feet! Really cool. All the neighbor's kids were coming to our house once they saw it in our front yard.
