15 Minerals Study Kit

This kit contains everything you need to begin to train yourself to identify minerals using your five senses and the simple tests performed by geologists in the field.  Fifteen different minerals are included, each with distinguishing characteristics.  Look at each in turn, and see if you can identify by color or luster, with the help of the magnifying glass.  Use the nail to test the hardness of each mineral, and give each a rub on the white streak plate to determine the streak colors.  Some of the minerals can even be distinguished by magnetic or fluorescent qualities!  The kit makes an excellent introduction to the world of minerals, and an engaging classroom activity.  The included minerals are Fluorite, Feldspar, Hematite, Pyrite, Milky Quartz, Calcite, Quartz (w/ Chalcedony), Magnetite, Gypsum (w/ Alabaster), Talc, Halite, Mica, Graphite, Gypsum (w/ Satin Spar), and Gypsum (w/ Selenite)
