The Green Rose Chafer is a small iridescent beetle found primarily in southern and central Europe. They can be spotted flitting amongst the roses on warm, sunny days from May until July, and sometimes all the way up to September. They feed off of pollen, nectar, and flowers, but they primarily prefer roses. In shape it resembles a scarab, while its body is colored by a metallic green which changes shades depending upon how the light hits it.
Since they’re found almost exclusively in Europe, not everyone gets a chance to see them. But now you can get a real one already prepared for you to examine! Students and teachers needn’t worry, this beetle won’t scurry off! This is a great specimen of a REAL green rose chafer beetle mounted in a small clear acrylic block. Great for looking at details under a microscope, or for having in the classroom, this is a great educational resource for the young science student or for the serious entomologist!
