A set of permanently mounted vials of liquids which fluoresce brilliantly under ultraviolet light. They illustrate the absorption of energy at one frequency (UV) and the re-radiation of that energy at a different but visible frequency. The salts and dyes included are quinine sulfate, primuline, rhodamine B, rhodamine 6G and fluorescein. Although the amount of dissolved chemical is minute, MSDS forms are included. The light source may be any true ultraviolet lamp; ambient light should be minimized. Viewing is best when the ultraviolet light source is directed away from the viewer and straight at the front side of the vials. The wood frame securely holds the five glass vials of liquid in place. The picture shows the liquids viewed under ultraviolet lighting.
