Pyrite has the nickname "fool's gold" because the brassy yellow color and chunky appearance have fooled a lot of prospectors looking for gold. It is brittle, metallic mineral and is more than 50% sulfur in composition. The surface of pyrite is often grainy, although cubes are also common. These specimens are great for science projects or classroom collection. Each piece tends to measure about 1.25" x 1" x 1". However, please be aware that this is a natural mineral and as such each piece is one of a kind! The one you receive may not be exactly the same as the ones pictured but it will be similar.
