This cool solar-powered grasshopper has a mini vibration dc motor in it's belly that allows it to shake and move. Just expose it to sunlight (or very strong 120W+ incandescent light bulb) and watch it move in unpredictable directions. Test it on various materials and see if you can predict which types of materials allow it to move the farthest and why.
