This got rave reviews from my nephews. Within a few seconds of opening it up, the ingredients were all carefully separated into provided cups, ready to experiment on. Since only a couple of small scoops were needed, we carefully poured them back into their respective bottles and started the first experiment, which was a fun color-changing fizzy beverage. A funnel might be nice to have available, but the instructions or another piece of paper work just as well. This was a huge hit and could definitely be used by a wide age range, even younger than what is recommended on the box if a parent is available to help and read instructions. The main reason to supervise is that there is some chance of spilling the included all-natural cabbage-derived red food coloring. A few of the experiments can be done right out of the box with just access to water, others require an added ingredient like lemon juice or vinegar.
I'm thinking of buying one to have at the house for emergency rainy days, or maybe just for myself.
It's a small box, and would be easy and safe to store in a kitchen.
