These gorgeous agate geode halves will add some color and elegance to any room. Each pair is matched and comes from the same split geode. The centers are polished to reveal the beautiful bands that run through them, and the geodes are dyed vibrant colors in order to bring out the complexity of the their interior patterning.
Agate is a microcrystalline variety of quartz (silica), characterized by its fineness of grain and brightness of color. Although agates may be found in various kinds of rock, they are classically associated with volcanic rocks but can be common in certain metamorphic rocks. It was actually given its name by a famous Greek philosopher and naturalist. Theophrastus discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC and called it agate.
These make an excellent gift for geologists or anyone looking to add some color and nature to their living room, office, or washroom.
Note: Color of each geode varies due to natural phenomena; therefore we are unable to fulfill requests for specific colored geodes.
