Television TV stone is satin spar selenite, a type of gypsum, CaSO4 2H2O. It is composed of parallel, fibrous crystals that have the ability to transmit light. This phenomenon of light traveling through satin spar selenite crystal fibers is the same one used in fiber optic communications.
When lake basin water containing calcium and sulfur evaporates, these minerals are deposited on the basin floor, sometimes in the form of satin spar selenite.
Each piece is approximately 0.5 to 1 inch in size.
