Sprinkle a small amount of iron filings onto the paper and tap gently. The iron filings will have the greatest concentration around the strongest part of the magnet. Replace your bar magnet with one of your horseshoe magnets; is the concentration of iron filings different? Or this - Alnico Horseshoe Magnets can lift three times more than a bar magnet of the same size and weight. The bar magnet and small horseshoe in your kit are about the same size and weight.
