This Dual-Cylinder Stirling Desktop Engine is a classic demonstration of converting heat energy into mechanical work using thermodynamics. The engine is powered by an alcohol lamp, which moves two displacement pistons that convert thermodynamic energy into mechanical movement. The pistons rotate a wheel that is connected to a built-in dynamo that lets the Sterling engine power an LED bulb. This is an excellent demonstration of the conversion of heat to mechanical to electrical energy. Makes an excellent purchase for physics teachers, or a unique desk-toy gift for scientifically-inclined minds.
