This is a two-foot length of acrylic rod that has been bent into the curlicue form shown. It is used to demonstrate the “piping” or “bending” of light by total internal reflection in a clear plastic rod. Both ends of the rod have been cut square, sanded and polished. Almost any light source, including an ordinary flashlight, may be used.
